Overview

With a pioneering visit to Phnom Kulen, you can travel back in time to the birthplace of the Angkor Empire. We will take you to the Lost City of Kulen National Park, the most secret mountain in Cambodia, where you will learn about the history, the local people, their way of life, and their culture from our experienced tour guide. Since it was the origin of the Khmer Empire in the year 802 AD, Kulen Mountain has played an enormously important role in the lives of the Cambodian people.

Highlights

  • Discover the lost capital city of the Khmer Empire, Phnom Kulen National Park
  • See the biggest waterfall at Angkor, the River of 1000 Shiva Linga
  • Visit the largest 16th century reclining Buddha statue in Cambodia
  • Journey through the countryside and rural villages
  • Visit Palm Sugar Village, and the largest local market in Siem Reap
  • Enjoy seeing Angkor temples with a small group of a maximum of 10 participants per group

Itinerary

Depart from your hotel in the morning via private vehicle to Phnom Kulen National Park. This journey takes you through rural Cambodian villages, where you may observe locals going about their everyday lives and admire beautiful landscapes such as rice paddies and traditional dwellings.

Afterward, we continue to the hilltop of Phnom Kulen, and our knowledgeable local guide will take you to the most spectacular tourist attractions in the national park, including the largest and most beautiful waterfalls, the reclining Buddha sculpture, and the River of Thousand Linga, which was constructed in 802 AD. After all the crawling, we stop for lunch (personal expense) at a nearby waterfall, where you can enjoy a variety of Khmer cuisine.

After having a great lunch, we continue with a visit to a local market and the Palm Sugar Village, where we make palm sugar out of palm juice using traditional methods that have been passed down from one generation to the next.

You can expect to return to town in the late afternoon.
