Your guide and driver meet you in the hotel lobby at around 4:40 in the morning.

You travel by open air jeep through the quiet streets of Siem Reap, passing the check point on the road to Angkor and entering Angkor Archaeological Park as the sky begins to lighten.

You arrive at the main causeway of Angkor Wat in the early morning and walk across the stone bridge with your guide, who explains the layout of the temple and the best places to stand for sunrise.

You follow the path toward the lotus ponds on the left side of the causeway, where the towers of Angkor Wat reflect in the water. Your guide helps you choose a position for photos and points out changes in the sky as the sun comes up behind the towers.

After sunrise, you enter the inner galleries of Angkor Wat and visit central areas such as the first gallery with its long bas reliefs, the courtyards, and the upper level if access is open. The guide explains carvings from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, the story of King Suryavarman II, and the meaning of the central sanctuary.

From Angkor Wat you walk back to the jeep and leave the main complex by road through the park, passing rice fields, sugar palm trees, and small villages on the edge of the protected area.

You arrive at a Khmer family house built on wooden stilts, with a raised platform under the house and a small kitchen area to one side. The family prepares breakfast with steamed rice, local dishes such as fried morning glory or pork with caramel sauce, and seasonal fruit.

You sit with the family on mats or low stools, share the meal, and have time to talk with them through your guide about daily routines, school, farming, and village festivals.

After breakfast you return to the jeep and head back toward the main Angkor area, entering the zone around Ta Prohm by a side road lined with trees.

At Ta Prohm you enter through one of the gopuras and walk along stone paths that run next to long galleries and courtyards. Your guide points out the large tree roots that have grown over walls and doorways, and explains how the temple was left in a partial state of vegetation during early restoration work.

You visit central points such as the Hall of Dancers, the inner courtyards, and key photo spots where tree roots frame doorways or wrap around blocks of sandstone. There is time for photos and for walking quietly through some of the less busy side corridors.

After breakfast you return to the jeep and head back toward the main Angkor area, entering the zone around Ta Prohm by a side road lined with trees.

From Ta Prohm you continue by jeep along a narrow laterite road into a forested area, where fewer vehicles pass during the morning.

You reach Ta Nei, a small temple complex in the trees, with broken walls, scattered stones, and towers partly covered by moss and lichen.

Your guide walks with you through the main entrance and into the central sanctuary, pointing out carvings and the way stones have shifted over time.

Because this temple receives fewer visitors than the main sites, you can spend more time taking photos of details, walking on shaded paths around the outer wall, and listening to the sounds of the forest.

After Ta Nei, you return to the jeep and drive through the Angkor area once more.

The route passes near the walls of Angkor Thom, where your guide points out major landmarks such as Baphuon Temple, the Terrace of the Elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King, as well as other smaller structures inside the old royal city.

From the road you see the broad causeways, long laterite walls, and relief carvings that mark this former capital, while your guide explains how these terraces were used for royal processions, public ceremonies, and viewing platforms.

You exit Angkor Archaeological Park and return to Siem Reap by late morning.

The driver drops you back at your hotel at around 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, which leaves the afternoon free for rest, a pool break, or another activity in town.
