Experience Cambodia's most iconic temples and traditional lake life with this Angkor Wat and Floating Village 3-Day Trip that combines sunrise at the world's largest religious monument with authentic village culture on Tonle Sap Lake.

You'll visit over 12 ancient temples including Ta Prohm (Tomb Raider location) and Banteay Srei, plus spend a full day with fishing families in Kampong Phluk floating village. Private transportation, expert guides, and small group sizes ensure you avoid crowds while capturing Instagram-perfect shots and meaningful cultural connections.

What Makes This Angkor Temple Complex Tour Special?

An Angkor Wat sunrise tour typically involves early morning temple visits, featuring mystical sunrise photography, ancient Khmer architecture, and cultural immersion at Tonle Sap Lake. Private tour options often include Ta Prohm and Banteay Srei day trips, jungle temple visits, and floating village experiences. Transportation is usually provided via air-conditioned vehicles from Siem Reap hotels. Prices start from $130 per person for comprehensive 3-day packages.

Key Features of This Siem Reap 3-Day Itinerary:

Temple Photography Paradise: You'll catch that golden hour magic at Angkor Wat without fighting selfie sticks – we start at 4:40 AM when most tourists are still dreaming. The reflection pools create mirror images that'll make your Instagram followers question reality.

Jungle Temple AdventuresBeng Mealea jungle temple feels like stepping into an adventure movie, with massive tree roots claiming ancient stones. Unlike the restored temples, this one shows nature's power over human achievement.

Authentic Village LifeKampong Phluk floating village isn't just a photo opportunity – you'll share tea with families whose stilted houses rise 6 meters above dry season ground. During rainy season, they literally float.

Expert Local Knowledge: Your guide speaks fluent English plus shares stories my grandmother told me about these temples. They know which angles work best for photos and when to visit each location for perfect lighting.

Comfortable Transportation: Private air-conditioned vehicles mean no crowded buses or rigid schedules. Need an extra 10 minutes for that perfect shot? No problem.

Cultural Bridge Building: This isn't just sightseeing – you'll learn traditional palm cake making in Preah Dak village and understand how these communities have survived for centuries.

This early access transforms your visit into an intimate encounter with Cambodia's most sacred monument.
Best Sunset Viewpoint in Angkor

This magical moment transforms centuries-old sandstone into a glowing masterpiece.
The Best Angkor Sunrise Tour Guide!
Your Angkor Wat Sunrise Tour features expert English-speaking guides who have spent decades studying Cambodian history and culture. These specialists don't just recite facts but share stories that bring ancient Khmer civilization alive at every temple. They'll explain thousand-year-old carvings, share local legends passed through generations, and answer every question about Buddhist symbolism or temple architecture. Small group sizes mean personal attention and time for conversations that transform your visit into genuine education.
The Most Intricate,Pink-colored Temple
Stand before the magnificent pink sandstone walls of Banteay Srei, Cambodia's most beautifully preserved temple featuring extraordinarily detailed carvings from the 10th century. This optional addition to your small-group Kulen Mountain Tour lets you admire the temple's delicate rose-colored facade and elaborate decorative work showcasing Hindu mythology scenes. Known as the Citadel of Women, Banteay Srei's fine artistry and smaller scale create an intimate atmosphere perfect for photography and quiet appreciation of ancient Khmer craftsmanship.

Itinerary

You will be picked up from your hotel at 8:00 am and head directly to purchase the Angkor pass. Afterward, we'll visit one of Cambodia's jewels, the impressive Angkor Thom - the fortified "Great Royal City" built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. At the South Gate, we can see the imposing statue of Avalokiteshvara, which appeared in the Tomb Raider movie.

Next, we'll explore the Bayon temple, a Buddhist-style structure adorned with hundreds of stone faces. We'll also visit the Terrace of Elephants, the former Royal Palace, Phimeanakas, the Terrace of Leper King, and the Baphoun temple, considered the largest Hindu temple in Angkor Thom.

Then, we'll drive to Ta Prohm temple, which has been left in its original state and is partly overgrown with trees and huge roots. This temple was used as a backdrop for the film Tomb Raider starring Angelina Jolie. Enjoy your lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we'll visit the fascinating Angkor Wat, the largest sacred building on the planet and an icon of the Khmer civilization. Explore Angkor Wat before the crowds arrive and capture some amazing photographs. Then, we'll climb to the top of Phnom Bakheng to witness the stunning sunset before transferring you back to your hotel.

You will be picked up from your hotel at 8:00 am via a private air-conditioned vehicle to visit Banteay Srei, known as the "Ladies' Temple", and the jungle temple of Beng Mealea. After exploring these sites, we will stop for lunch at a local restaurant where you can enjoy authentic Cambodian cuisine.

Next, we'll head directly to see the two main temples of the Rolous Group: Bakong temple and Lolei temple. From there, we'll continue to Kampong Phluk, a flooded fishing village on the Tonle Sap lake, located just 21 kilometers from Siem Reap town.

Once at the lake port, we'll take a local boat to explore the famous floating villages of Kampong Phluk. Here, you can witness firsthand the everyday life of the many families who rely primarily on fishing for their livelihoods. Most families live on the lake shore in brightly colored houses built on long poles, so high water levels during the rainy season are not a problem.

Discover the flooded mangrove forest surrounding the area, which is home to a variety of species, including crab-eating macaques and over 3,000 inhabitants. Finally, we'll visit a Buddhist monastery built on an artificial island before returning you to your hotel in Siem Reap.

We depart the hotel at 4:40 am to witness the magnificent sunrise over Angkor Wat, a truly unforgettable experience. Embrace the breathtaking golden hues as the sun paints the sky above the majestic temple, enhanced by a cloudy backdrop. Enjoy breakfast at a local family restaurant in Siem Reap, then experience rural life at Preah Dak village near the Angkor temple complex and taste traditional palm cake.

Afterward, we'll visit other beautiful Angkor temples, including Pre Rup, Preah Khan, Neak Pean, East Mebon, and Banteay Kdey temple. Finally, we'll drop you back at your hotel.

Know before you go

  • Angkor pass of 3 days ($62 per person) is not included. We require all participants to have an Angkor temple pass before the start of the tour. This is to ensure that you will not miss the beautiful parts at Angkor. You can purchase your pass via online.
  • Dress code: All visitors are not allowed to wear as shorts as you want for the Angkor temple’s visit. Please make sure that your knees and shoulders are covered.
  • The end of March to the end of June is a crucial time in all the floating villages in Siem Reap, as the water levels start to recede and present a unique opportunity for tourists to experience a new perspective. Although the picturesque landscape of the floating community may lose some of its charm during this time, visitors have a chance to immerse themselves in the daily life of the villagers living in the dried season. While some boats may become stuck, and smaller canoes are unable to traverse the jungle forest, these challenges add to the thrill of the experience. The dry season in floating village of Kompong Phluk may not be the ideal time to visit for those seeking postcard-perfect photos, but it offers a chance to witness a facet of the village’s daily life that is not typically seen. As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. We recommend visitors to embrace this rare chance to witness a different facet of this incredible destination and truly get a different taste of life in the village.
